Hi Sara, I have osteoporosis and had been taking D-3 for years. The last two years my blood work came back with elevated calcium levels. Endocrinologist has taken me off of it along with calcium supplements. I take Fosamax to build up my bones. As for dairy products, I don't have a problem with them.

I drink lactaid free two percent milk and tolerate it well. You may be able to eat the foods that are bothering you now after you’ve been on the medication for a while.

Question: What dietary changes should I expect when taking Ursodiol for PBC?

It's common to experience changes in food tolerance when taking Ursodiol. This happens because PBC affects bile production, which is essential for digesting fats. When you have PBC, your body may have difficulty absorbing fats properly. Here are some dietary tips to help manage symptoms:

• Limit high-fat and processed foods
• Reduce dairy intake if causing discomfort
• Focus on eating a balanced, nutrient-rich diet
• Include plenty of colorful fruits and vegetables
• Work with your healthcare provider to develop a personalized diet plan

Remember that diarrhea can be a side effect of Ursodiol, so avoiding foods that trigger digestive issues is important for medication absorption and comfort.
