Members newly diagnosed with PBC shared many ways they take URSO (Ursodiol), with most finding that eating at least a small amount of food like yogurt, fruit, eggs, or a snack helps prevent nausea. Several members described adjusting their dosing schedule around their natural eating habits, such as taking it with lunch and dinner instead of breakfast, and noted that it took a few weeks for their bodies to adjust. A recurring theme was the importance of knowing your own body, staying proactive with lab work, and leaning on this community for support and shared knowledge.

I've taken Ursodiol for 7 years and I take without food for the most because I take them early in the morning before eating. I take two 300mg together daily and so far good. My hematologist started me on new medication February 9, 2026 called Livdelzi 10mg in hopes of stopping my severe itching psoriasis but after 3 months im still suffering from itching but my liver enzymes are lowering..

I eat either yogurt or a pack of instant grits before taking the ursodiol. I also take my medicine for Crohn's at the same time which requires me to drink a full glass of water with it. I also have a stomach hernia that significantly reduces the amount of food that I can eat. Information about PBC is more readily available now. When I was first diagnosed with it in 2011 my doctor gave me a printout that only had one paragraph. I was proactive and researched on my own. Now information is more readily available. I lucked up on this website through Facebook about a month ago. It has provided me with a great wealth of information.

Thanks, Debbie - glad to hear you adjusted! I am hopeful all the journaling I am doing will help me find patterns in how everything affects how I feel!

Ursodiol must be taken twice a day. It dissolves gallstones. Promotes bile flow.Reduces. Liver Inflammation. Protects liver cells from damage. Slows down the progression of bile and liver damage caused by PBC. Please watch TC Hales video on bile flow. He explains what process foods do to thicken bile which must be avoided.
Seed oils are terrible for the liver and are in mayonnaise, process foods, etc.
Research a good mayonnaise, olive oil, honey etc. many brands are fake.
Eat yogurt that is plan and add a drop of real honey and blueberries. Other brands are equal in sugar and fat as ice cream. Use Real salt instead of cheap process salt.
Sit down with you IPad or computer and research the food you consume. Make your own muffins with simple ingredients. Cook from scratch. Be partners with Ursodiol
so you will live longer. Learn to eat small meals all day to avoid malnutrition and malabsorption. Research Ammonia build up causing brain fog. Sauerkraut helps remove it from the body . Bring these issues up to your Doctor.
