I also have a white tongue at times and it is from another auto immune disease called sjogrens. Dry mouth and dry eyes. Stay well hydrated and ask doctor about xylitol gum and theramints by 3M. Xylitol is very poisonous for dogs if you have any.

White tongue with PBC can be caused by:
- Dry mouth from PBC itself or Sjögren's disease (which affects about one-third of people with PBC)
- Certain medications, including pain relievers, antihistamines, and blood pressure drugs
- Oral thrush (a yeast infection) from taking antibiotics
- Poor oral hygiene, smoking, or breathing through your mouth

To manage dry mouth:
- Chew sugar-free gum or suck on sugar-free hard candy to boost saliva
- Avoid caffeine, which can worsen dryness
- Add sauces or gravies to meals
- Ask your doctor about pilocarpine medications for dry mouth

To manage white tongue:
- Practice good oral hygiene with a soft toothbrush and mild fluoride toothpaste
- Use a tongue scraper or gently brush your tongue
- Avoid smoking, vaping, and very spicy, acidic, or salty foods
- Keep up with dental visits to catch any issues early

If your white tongue doesn't improve or you suspect an infection, see your doctor. They can treat underlying conditions that may be causing it.

Always check with your healthcare provider before trying new treatments to ensure they won't affect your liver health.
