Members offered reassurance to someone nervous about getting a FibroScan, with the shared message being that the test is quick, painless, and similar to a regular ultrasound. Several members described their own experiences, including finding out they were at higher stages than expected, which then helped their doctors start helpful treatments like Iqirvo or Urso. A recurring theme was that knowing your stage, while scary, gives you and your doctor the information needed to plan the best path forward.

I have a fibro scan every year. It's just an ultra sound with elastography. No pain. Just like a regular ultra sound. Don't be scared!

To those who've had the fibroscan..... I'm assuming the doctor did that on his own ? I really want to know my stage....not just my MELD - Should I request they do one?? Can I do that??

Yes. They are pretty simply & painless. It's similar to having a ultrasound but it focuses on sound waves to determine the state of the liver. The doctor that performed mine called me the same day. He didn't make me wait for the official results.
