I'm surprised your derm doc couldn't tell you what it was. You might want to get a second opinion. It sounds like some sort of rash because it is itchy. Did the derm give you anything for it? So many things can cause rashes but the fact it started on your head is interesting. Any chance you changed shampoos, body wash, lotions, your diet, laundry soap, etc.? I had itchy bumps that I couldn't figure out in my scalp and they ended up being skin cancer but hopefully your derm has already ruled that out. Good luck and please keep us posted what you learn.

Hi Barb. I feel bumps on my scalp as well, and when my Alk Phos goes up, then my scalp gets super itchy at bedtime. I have to douse my scalp with cold water, which seems to help. I think it is enlarged sebaceous glands at the base of hair follicles, but not sure.

Thanks. Where I live, not many doctors seem to care or listen. And trying to get into specialists is a pain, usually 6 months to a year. It's all about the money in this area. Even getting a real hepatoligist is impossible, and we even having a medical teaching school here. There is one hepatologist in the area, and he isn't accepting new patients. If I want a real one, I would have to go at least 2 hours one way to see one. Very discouraging. Hate to say it, but I don't think GI doctor's really k ow or care about hepatology.

I was recently diagnosed with Hidradenitis Suppurativa, a chronic disease with no cure. That is what the bumps/cysts under my arms are. Have to find out what the maintenance program will be when I go next week. They are very painful, and have to use antibiotics and an antibiotic ointment to help them heal.
