Iqirvo works by decreasing bile acid production and making bile acids less harmful to the liver. The initial drop in numbers often reflects the medication doing its job, and a slower rate of change later doesn't necessarily mean it's stopped working.
A few things worth knowing:
- Doctors typically look at ALP and bilirubin levels as key markers
- The goal is often to get ALP below 1.67 times the upper limit of normal, with bilirubin in the normal range
- Newer medications like Iqirvo may help more people reach normal levels of these markers
That said, everyone's response is different, and it's really important to discuss this pattern with your hepatologist or specialist. They can look at your full picture and determine whether your current progress is on track or if any adjustments are needed.

I am actually on my third month now, so I guess I will find out as I go. My numbers were normal for the first time a month after starting. I go back to the liver specialist in July so he will do bloodwork again then. That will be in my 4th month.
