I thought I had asked this question, but maybe didn’t post it. Is there anyone on this site who is AMA Negative?

- Symptoms and treatment are generally the same whether you're AMA-positive or AMA-negative
- People who are AMA-negative often have higher ALP levels
- A liver biopsy may be used to help confirm the diagnosis
- Studies show AMA-negative people respond just as well to treatment as those who are AMA-positive

I am AMA negative and for over 20 years went undiagnosed. I finally had a wonderful GI provider who ran all the tests plus biopsy,MRI, AND FibroScan. I am 2mo thx into Ursodoil and fell I am on the right path.

Hi Lisa. I am in British Columbia, Canada. I just had (my second in 30 years) Liver Biopsy. The B.C. medical protocol system is behind. My understanding is that they won’t provide “second line” medications here if you are AMA negative. I won’t get the results for a few weeks. It will be good to know what’s going on so it was worth the biopsy. Amazing medical staff at the hospital where I went for the procedure. Thanks for letting me know. Much appreciated.
