Please bring this to your next PCP appointment. I blew off the pain as muscle spasms and light arthritis.
After not taking care of myself (as mom “n”Dad used to say “Pull up your boot straps a move on!”) I now have no cartilage and hip is bone on bone due to severe osteoarthritis. Found out medical Karma will bite you in the hips (oops meant butt.) hahaha

I am having very painful spasms. I know nothing about this liver disease. I want to learn everything I can.
My mouth is always dry, my lips peel. I am so exhausted all the time.

Hip soreness when lying in bed is a great question to explore in the context of PBC. While PBC itself primarily affects the liver and bile ducts, it can cause some symptoms that might contribute to discomfort when resting.

Here are a few PBC-related factors that could play a role:

- Fatigue and muscle weakness — PBC-related fatigue can come with muscle weakness, which may make lying in certain positions uncomfortable
- Sleep disturbances — Over half of people with PBC experience sleep disorders, meaning more time spent tossing and turning, which can put pressure on the hips
- Osteoporosis — As PBC progresses, it can lead to weakened bones, which may contribute to bone or joint discomfort

That said, hip soreness can also simply be caused by your sleeping position, mattress, or an unrelated muscle strain. It's worth mentioning this symptom to your doctor, especially if it's persistent or getting worse. They can help figure out whether it's connected to your PBC or something else entirely. Don't brush it off — your body is always worth listening to! 😊
