I take psyllium husk daily - it helps lower cholesterol. You have to be careful to space it two hours away from any medication and to drink a lot of water with it - an extra 270ml immediately after taking it per instruction, and then hydrate well rest of day.
I get mine online - I’m in Sweden. You can also find it in health food shops. Buy the pre-ground version. (Its difficult to grind the husk as they are so small and light) It’s also available in capsules I believe but then that doesn’t have the full gut lining effect. Very important to hydrate and also be important to space at least two hours before taking any meds.
Always best to ask your Dr in advance of taking - my gastro was fine with it as long as I spaced it away from my meds.
Thank you, I have recently read about psyllium husk as I’ve been researching this problem. Do you buy it online? I have not found it in any local stores.
I was on satins I ended up having one of the worst reactions in the country. Was in hospital 6 weeks liver failure, kidney and muscle failure. If you decide to take start with watching for side-effects granted my was extreme reaction. While I was in hospital that is when I found out I had PBC
Ps was on Simvastatin but after heart attack liptor that's what did me in. Simvastatin was on a lower dose and it was affecting me much slowly it was the Lipitor that did me in within 6 weeks I'll never take a cholesterol medicine they did try a cholesterol medicine that had no statins and I started to lose use of my arms so they feel that it's something in all cholesterol medicines affecting me
Thanks for this information, it is something I am also concerned about so useful to have a few pointers.
