I am in the same place. I tried other meds before I got to stage four. Right now all my numbers look good and so we decided to wait on another medicine. As to time that’s something no one knows. I try to do the things I love with people I love. I have taken steps to make my death easier on my kids, but I’m still planning cruises for the next couple of years!

It sounds like your question got cut off — it looks like you might be asking "how long have I got?" That's one of the hardest questions to sit with, and it makes complete sense that it's on your mind.
The honest answer is that PBC progression varies a lot from person to person, even at stage 4. Cirrhosis doesn't follow a single timeline, and many people continue to live meaningful lives with the right treatment and monitoring in place. The fact that you're on urso and actively meeting your consultant this Friday is really important. Adding a second medication to urso is a positive step — it shows your care team is working to slow things down and manage your condition proactively.
Some key things worth discussing with your consultant on Friday:
- Which additional medication they're recommending and why
- What your latest liver blood tests show
- What symptoms to watch for and report
- How often your monitoring will happen going forward
Please don't face Friday alone if you can help it — bringing someone with you, or writing down your questions beforehand, can make a big difference.
