Compounded Semaglutide.(wegovy). It was my weight loss doctor that pointed out that my blood work was getting worse. I was told I probably had “fatty liver“ in probably 2015 or 2017 and don’t worry about it. When I went on the Semaglutide my weight loss doctor insisted on regular bloodwork. When my ALP etc., kept going up more she told me to see my gastroenterologist. Looking back at my blood work to 2012 there were signs even then. By 2019, my PCP should have picked up on it but Covid happened and I moved and changed doctors, etc. so it fell through the cracks.
Wegovy is now being prescribed in combination with a reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity, for the treatment of noncirrhotic metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), formerly known as nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), with moderate to advanced liver fibrosis (consistent with stages F2 to F3 fibrosis) in adults.
My weight loss doctor is actually familiar with PBC and said that it probably was helping me with the fibrosis, but when I finally get to see the hematologist, I should check with him. My appointment is in mid November – three months after my diagnosis. I figure the untreated obesity is as deadly as untreated PBC. I am hopeful to stay on the Wegovy until I reach my goal weight and then slowly wean myself off of it.
One thing for sure – the PBC diagnosis has certainly affected my evening habits. I am trying things like cauliflower pizza – it wasn’t terrible! I do not recommend the Stevia maple syrup – it has an aftertaste. Fake butter doesn’t do it for me, but other people seem to like it. I prefer cooking in olive oil. Hopefully these habits will help me control my PBC and my weight.
Good luck to you.

Based on the available search results, there isn't specific information about PBC patients using Optavia or Medifast for weight loss. When considering any weight loss program with PBC, it's important to discuss it with your hepatologist first since they understand how different diets might affect your liver health.

The most important thing is to work closely with your healthcare team to develop a safe and effective weight management plan that takes into account your PBC diagnosis and any medications you're taking. If you're interested in weight management, consider bringing up these specific questions at your next appointment:
• How might weight loss affect my PBC management?
• What dietary approaches are safe with my current medications?
• Are there any specific nutritional considerations I should keep in mind?
• How might my current PBC medications affect my weight management goals?
