I take wellbutrin 300xl and lexapro 20mg every morning,I have for years and tbh I didn't believe antidepressants really helped with anxiety,I always relied on a quick acting anxiety medication,I cannot live without my lexapro and it doesn't give any weird side effects(atleast to me)

What anxiety medications are safe for people with PBC?

The search results don't specifically discuss anxiety medications for people with PBC. However, it's mentioned that many medications are processed in the liver, and since PBC causes liver damage, it's crucial to work closely with your hepatologist before starting any new medication.

Your hepatologist and general practitioner should work together to determine which anxiety medications are safest for you. They'll consider your current liver function and monitor your hepatic health closely while you're taking any new medication.

Some myPBCteam members emphasize checking any new medication or supplement with your hepatologist, as they're best equipped to understand how medications might affect your liver condition.

It's important to have open conversations with both your primary care provider and liver specialist about anxiety symptoms you're experiencing. They can recommend appropriate treatments that balance managing your anxiety while protecting your liver health.
