How can you manage severe fatigue at work with PBC?

It's great that you're already walking 30 minutes daily — that's an important step. However, PBC-related fatigue is different from regular tiredness and often needs a multi-faceted approach.

Here are some strategies that might help:

Timing and Work Adjustments:
* Give yourself more time in the mornings to ease into your day
* Consider adjusting your work schedule if possible (starting later or leaving earlier)
* Know your limits — if fatigue becomes overwhelming, don't push through
* Take short breaks every half hour to avoid mental fatigue

Energy Management:
* Try a 10-20 minute power nap during lunch (not after 3 p.m.) to boost alertness without disrupting nighttime sleep
* Break up sedentary time with small movements throughout the day
* Consider light therapy in the morning (10,000 lux boxes) to help regulate your sleep-wake cycle Medical Considerations:
* Review your medications with your doctor — some (like antihistamines for itching) can cause drowsiness and should be taken at bedtime
* Ask about blood tests to check for vitamin deficiencies (A, D, E, K) or metabolic issues that can worsen fatigue
* Discuss whether your current PBC treatment is adequately managing your condition

Important: Talk to your doctor about your severe fatigue, especially since it's affecting your ability to work safely. They can help identify underlying causes and suggest appropriate interventions. As one myPBCteam member shared, sometimes you need to honor the fatigue and ask your support system for help when needed.

I take real honey that is full of nutrients and cinnamon daily. Research real verses fake honey. It helps me with brain fog. A hot cup of tea with a spoon of honey and cinnamon at lunch may help give you a boost.
Best wishes
