My doctor is trying to get me on Iqirvo but I am being held up by my insurance company. I have been taking Ursodiol for 2 1/2 years but I have since progressed into stage 3 and am really worried about what happens if I'm not approved. It is a very expensive medication and my insurance company is trying to get out of covering it.

How are people doing on Iqirvo?

Iqirvo (elafibranor) is a newer FDA-approved treatment for PBC, so you may find fewer people sharing their experiences compared to older medications. It's typically prescribed with ursodiol for those who don't respond well to ursodiol alone, or by itself if ursodiol isn't tolerated.

Iqirvo works by decreasing bile acid production and making bile acids less harmful to your liver. This can help slow liver damage and improve symptoms over time.

If you're curious about others' experiences, connecting with members on myPBCteam who are taking Iqirvo could give you real-world insights about how it's working for them. Everyone's response can be different, so it's helpful to hear various perspectives.

How long have you been considering or taking Iqirvo? Your doctor can also help monitor your progress with blood tests to see how well it's working for you specifically.
