First off, welcome to the PBC journey β€” it's a lot to take in at first, but you're already taking the right steps by paying attention to what's happening with your body.

Dry, patchy skin is actually a really common symptom of PBC, affecting around 40% of people with the condition. It happens because when the bile ducts are affected, bile can build up in the bloodstream, which irritates the nerves in your skin and disrupts its natural moisture balance. Here are some things that may help manage dry skin patches:

- Moisturize immediately after bathing to lock in moisture
- Use lukewarm water (not hot) and keep showers to 5–10 minutes
- Look for creams or ointments containing glycerin, hyaluronic acid, shea butter, or petrolatum
- Avoid products with sodium lauryl sulfate or alcohol, as these worsen dryness
- Run a humidifier at home, especially in winter months

It's really important to mention the rash to your doctor soon, as they can determine whether it's related to PBC itself or something else, and may recommend a medicated cream or additional treatment options.

I have dry skin also. I mix coconut oil cream with about two tsp of Vaseline it helps my skin stay moisturized.

I get a dry patch on my throat, it is so weird, localized to the one spot. Aquaphor works well for me.
