Not to come off gross, but has anyone else delt with your poop being orange and it had a very foul smell that wasn't normal?

Ever since I started the 900 MG of ursodiol, my poop has been slowing getting back to normal color and smell. I had the poop issues for 3 years before getting diagnosed with PBC, just like I had high blood pressure for 3 years as well due to the PBC, now my blood pressure been lowering while on ursodiol.

With PBC, the bile ducts become inflamed and damaged, which can block the normal flow of bile. Bile is what gives stool its typical brown color, so when it can't flow properly, stools can turn pale, clay-colored, or even orange.

The foul smell can also be related to this, as poor bile flow affects how well your body digests fats, leading to greasy, strong-smelling stools. Other myPBCteam members have noticed unusual stool and urine changes around the time of their PBC diagnosis, so you're definitely not alone in this.

That said, it's really important to flag this with your hepatologist or gastroenterologist. They can check your bilirubin levels and assess what's going on. It could be a sign that your PBC needs closer monitoring or a treatment adjustment.

I’m so sorry. I know how it is. I’ve been on Urso since2016. It works to keep the bile flowing through the ducts. The excessive Gastrointestinal issues keep me in bed 4 or so days a week.
