Yes this recent PBC Foundation Q&A on you tube is hugely informative. Great info about all things fatigue from Dr Mark Swain, Professor of Medicine and Head of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Hi
Make sure you stay hydrated. It helps with fatigue and helps with the bile ducts for digestion.
Very important to stay hydrated.
Good luck out there everyone 👍🤞

That sounds like a fantastic resource! Fatigue is one of the most talked-about and challenging aspects of living with PBC, so having expert insight is really valuable.

Here's a quick overview of what's generally understood about PBC-related fatigue:

Fatigue in PBC tends to fall into two categories:

- Central fatigue — linked to brain and nervous system changes, often showing up as brain fog and sleep disturbances
- Peripheral fatigue — felt in the muscles, often linked to higher lactic acid levels in the body

Some factors that can make fatigue worse include:

- Poor sleep quality
- Nutrient deficiencies (especially vitamins A, D, E, and K)
- Thyroid issues, which are a common comorbidity of PBC
- Certain medications

Some strategies that myPBCteam members have found helpful include gentle exercise like walking, short power naps, morning light therapy, and working with their doctor to review medications and nutrition.

The most important takeaway is to always discuss fatigue with your doctor — it's a real and significant symptom that deserves attention, not just something to push through!
