I am aware that elevated LFT's, especially ALP and a positive AMA are indicative of PBC. But wondering if there may also be a different diagnosis than focusing on PBC? I haven't had a second opinion yet, but I see that some members have received a second opinion and am wondering if the result was any different. I know that a second opinion is an option but time is precious, and the thought of rehashing all the studies with another specialist feels overwhelming.
Lisa, I am so glad music helps you. I love music as well and it helps get my mind off of reality, lol. I remain symptom free, sort of. I am tired and seem to yawn often as the day progresses. But I don't let tiredness keep me from being as active as I can. I had played pickleball 4 times a week, 2-3 hours each time, but now with the cold weather, I play it once a week and play indoor table tennis 4 mornings a week. I'm fighting the tiredness (fatigue) with all I got but there are days I run out of energy. My husband is really great at motivating me to stay active but as I tire, I think of my cozy bed calling for me to rest :( I want my energy back but I know its not returning the way it was, so maintaining what I can works for now. Thank you for your friendship, and yes, we are in this together. 💗
LisaG and TinaHagberg, my liver biopsy confirmed stage 2-3 PBC. At least now I know for sure. How are both of you doing?
@A myPBCteam Member, that is so good to hear that the diagnosis was unchanged from what your three family member specialists told you. Once confirmed, it probably is somewhat a relief knowing what you're dealing with, not that that makes it any easier to live with, just easier perhaps to find comfort in knowing that you are getting the right treatment. LisaG, thank you so much for replying. I'm going for a liver biopsy as soon as it gets scheduled, and that will help me confirm the PBC diagnosis and staging. I think I'll just take it from there. I truly appreciate your response. 💗
I am fortunate to have three nephews who are drs of various illnesses in three different states. They reviewed my blood test results from the past few years and all came up with the same diagnosis, without telling me since they were technically not my dr. Once my dr called me with my diagnosis a few days later, they fast tracked me to a great gastroenterologist and hematologist one of them personally knew. I feel fortunate to have family members as well as a specialist looking after my health, but it did not change my diagnosis. Crossing my fingers for a good outcome for you too!
