Hi Ellen
We get Vit B12 essentially from the meat we eat. Vegetarians are at risk for not getting enough Vit b 12. Do you have pernicious anemia-in which case you would need a supplement. Vit b12 doesn't pop up in any of the literature reviews I have done. The most important ones to focus on are the fat soluable vits ADEand K. There’s a great article in the resources here addressing ADEK.
My hepatologist (Dr L Mason) has never mentioned Vit B12. It is usually included in a multivitamin pill. BTW you can look up the research he does in PBC along with internationally well known hepatologists. Its a huge collaborative effort and the research is really robust.
Thank you and I am going to talk to my GI dr before I start taking it. I am in the process of possibly taking Iqirvo and am very reluctant to do so. sometime I think we need to make our own decisions. Will post when I find out what is going on and what I find out from her this week
Hi Ellen, my hepatologist recommended taking a B-Complex along with a multivitamin. My multivitamin contains B-12…10 mcg. along with many other b vitamins.
The B-Complex contains 15 mcg. of B-12. Together this is giving me over 1000% of Daily Value “if” I take them everyday which I don’t. I do take the B-12 a couple times a week out of concern I’m taking way too much and plan to speak to my hepatologist about it at my next appt.
I am curious about what others are taking as well.
I do because I need the energy.
I take a B complex daily.
