On ursidol since 10/25. AST and ALT fell into normal range within 3 months. However, ALKALINE PHOSPHATASE is at 179. Dr wants to change meds already. I’ve read it can take up to a year. Not a fan of the other options since the side effects are headaches (I get migraines) and constipation, I have a back injury with nerve damage that affects my bladder and bowel functions. Should I stay on ursidol for the full year before considering change? That’s what I’d prefer.
@A myPBCteam Member I think when they give you a second line treatment as your Dr suggests you stay on Urso and you take the other medication in addition to Urso. So your Dr is being proactive by not waiting a full year if they can see that damage is still occurring to your liver and they want to ‘dampen the fire’ sooner rather than later as opposed to waiting the full 12 months just to decide the same thing means you have experienced unecessary delay in getting the extra treatment necessary. More and more they prefer to act before the full 12 months is up to offer second line treatment stop extra damage earlier. This I have learned recently from multiple specialists on the PBC Foundation You Tube Q and As.
