My specialist wants to put me on Zepbound. I have PBC, MASLD and cleared Hep C decades ago. She wants me on it because all my numbers are up.

I heard there is another glp1 they are testing out for PBC but never heard that Zepbound was an option. I would get a second opinion if you can, you do not need any stress on your liver.❤️🙏🏽

Zepbound (tirzepatide) isn't something that comes up in the current PBC treatment landscape, and it isn't an approved or studied treatment for PBC specifically. The available information doesn't connect Zepbound to PBC management.

For PBC, the treatments that are currently approved or in use include:

For PBC, the treatments that are currently approved or in use include:

- Ursodiol (UDCA) — the first-line treatment that helps bile flow and slows disease progression
- Elafibranor (Iqirvo) — FDA-approved in 2024, used alone or with UDCA
- Seladelpar (Livdelzi) — another newer PPAR agonist option
- Fibrates — may also help with itching
- Liver transplant — for advanced cases where other treatments stop working

It's worth having a direct conversation with a hepatologist about any specific medications being considered, as they can weigh in on what's appropriate based on individual health history and lab results.
